Warning
- Misuse of this product can result in failure, fire or death by electrical shock.
- Never alter the SmartPlug cordset or connectors in any fashion
Proper Use
Connecting the Cordset
- To prevent personal injury and equipment damage, turn the dockside outlet's power switch and the boat's internal shore connection switch to the off position.
- Plug the boatside connector into the boat's shore power inlet.
- Plug the dockside plug into the dockside plug into the dockside power outlet and turn power back on.
Disconnecting the Cordset
- To prevent personal injury and equipment damage, turn the dockside outlet's power switch and the boat's internal shore connection switch to the off position.
- Disconnect the dockside plug from the dockside outlet.
- Disconnect the boatside connector from the boatside inlet.
Warning- Make sure power outlet and main circuit breakers are switched off before connecting this cordset. This will help to prevent shock, fire and damage to on-board electronics. Once this cordset is connected, turn on the main breaker at the pedestal and check LED status lights for indication of fault.
Care
Warning- Before performing shore power maintenance of any kind, disconnect the cordset by following the instructions listed above.
Inspection- Before using, inspect the conditions of the connections at both ends as well as the boatside inlet and dockside outlet for signs of corrosion or overheating. Corrosion typically presents itself as tiny green or black dots on the electrical blades themselves, and can eventually lead to overheating of the connection. Overheating typically presents itself as discoloration or melting around the electrical contacts. If any component displays signs of corrosion or overheating, replace it immediately.
Cleaning- At regular intervals, clean external surfaces with fresh water. In the event of salt water immersion, wash connectors out at both ends with fresh water, and hang upside-down until thoroughly fry before using. Coating easily reachable electrical contacts with a moisture-displacing lubricant will extend the life of the product.
Storage
Thoroughly dry off all surfaces and store cordset in a dray indoor location. For additional protection and for short periods of outdoor non-use, consider protecting the boatside end of your power cordset with the SmartPlug Weatherprrog cover(#A1001)
Warranty
Smartplug Systems warrants its products with a limited 7 year warranty from the original date of purchase.
